Job Position: Licensed Acupuncturist


Location: In-Person at

Insight Acupuncture & Wellness Clinic

3649 E Thousand Oaks Blvd

Thousand Oaks, CA 91362


Pay Scale: $17 - $47/hour to start

$17/hour base salary, plus $30 commission per patient


Job Type: Part time, 1-3 days/week, 8 hours/day.

This is a contract position in which the employee will receive a 1099.


Schedule: 1-3 days/week, 8 hours/day, Mondays thru Saturdays.


Company Overview:

Insight Acupuncture & Wellness Clinic is a multi-disciplinary holistic health clinic with 2-4 acupuncturists, 1-2 massage therapists, and 1-2 clinic administrators expected to be on board.  We are currently seeking to hire a compassionate, knowledgeable, and skilled Licensed Acupuncturist and/or Doctor of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine who will work 1 to 3 days per week to start. Qualifications:

1. Must be licensed to practice Acupuncture in the State of California.

2. Board certification by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) a plus.

3. Current malpractice insurance.

4. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified by the American Heart Association (AHA).

5. Clean Needle Technique (CNT) Certified.

6. Knowledge, skills, discernment and discretion following patient privacy and safety practices complying with California Acupuncture Board (CAB), Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).

7. Professional, positive, compassionate, empathic, conscientious, diligent, passionate, and driven to excel in providing impactful and world-class patient care and experience.

8. Detail-oriented while keeping the big picture in mind.

9. Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.

10. Ability to develop good rapport with patients and colleagues.

11. Able to work well independently as well as effectively in a team environment.


Job Description:

1. Conduct thorough and comprehensive patient assessments, including detailed health histories and physical examinations, to determine diagnosis and appropriate Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments which could also include Chinese herbal medicine consultation, tui na massage, cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, and qi gong, etc., within the scope of practice.

2. Develop individualized treatment plans which may include acupuncture, dietary therapy (Western & Eastern nutrition and Chinese herbal medicines), tui na massage, cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, therapeutic exercises (tai chi, Qi gong, yoga, meditation), and lifestyle modifications.

3. Perform Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities using aseptic, clean needle, and sanitary techniques to ensure patient, practitioner, and staff safety and optimal results.

4. Utilize advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine to perform Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments in a safe and effective manner.

5. Utilize knowledge to explain treatment processes and educate patients on their health conditions, treatment plans, pre- and post-treatment care, and lifestyle modifications so that patients are well-informed partners in their healthcare, etc.

6. Educate patients on the benefits of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine.

7. Monitor patient progress regularly, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimize therapeutic benefits.

8. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and patient interactions in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and in compliance with healthcare and insurance regulations.

9. Ensure all safety protocols are followed including clean needle technique, sanitation, organization, functionality, equipment, and stocking of supplies in the treatment rooms, and clinic in general.

10. Maintain a valid license to practice acupuncture in California, malpractice insurance, CPR and BLS certifications, and staying current with industry standards in patient care.

11. Greet patients, answer phones, schedule appointments, check insurance, produce and issue Superbills, and other front desk and administrative duties as needed.

12. Other duties as assigned when necessary.

Company Profile: Insight Acupuncture & Wellness Clinic is a multi-disciplinary holistic health clinic with 2 - 3 acupuncturists, 1 - 2 massage therapists, and 1 - 2 front desk receptionists/administrative assistants expected to be on board. We are currently seeking to hire a Front Desk Receptionist/Administrative Assistant who will work 3 or 4 days per week to start. More information about the clinic can be found on www.insightacu.co

· Excellent customer services skills that can manage incoming calls, emails, inquiries, and communications with warmth, etiquette, clarity, efficiency and effectiveness

· Excellent organizational skills to manage an organized calendar and clinic

· Great time management skills with ability to schedule patients, filling an organized calendar, and the ability to get things done in a timely manner

· Computer literate and technically savvy

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.

· Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and practice management systems such as SimplePractice, Jane, or Unified Practice

· Attention to detail while keeping the big picture in mind

· Great verbal and written communication skills to manage communications with warmth, etiquette, clarity, efficiency and effectiveness

· Ability to maintain discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information, including complying with HIPAA regulations

· Good discernment and judgement

Job Description:

· Perform front desk reception duties

· Greet patients, vendors, and visitors with warmth in a friendly and professional manner

· Answer incoming calls with enthusiasm, clarity, and excellent phone etiquette

· Schedule patient appointments and maintain an organized calendar

· Update patient appointment status

· Collect and photo-copy/scan patients’ driver’s license and insurance identifications

· Verify patient medical insurance benefits with medical insurance companies as needed

· Direct and/or escort patients to destination such as treatment rooms or restroom

· Take patients’ vitals including blood pressure, pulse rate, weight, and height; and enter into Unified Practice if needed

· Shadow physician and medical scribe; help perform triage, patient intake, and type in treatment such as acupuncture points and herbal formulas utilizing Unified Practice on the iPads if needed

· Accept cash and process credit/debit card payments

· Generate Super-Bills including the CPT and/or ICD-10 codes, etc., using Unified Practice as needed

· Schedule return appointments when necessary

· Educate and answer patients’ questions in regards to the capabilities/benefits of acupuncture; acupressure; tui na massage; herbal medicine/dietary therapy; cupping; moxibustion; gua sha; and energetic exercises such as qi gong, tai chi, yoga, and meditation to help attract patients and promote patient retention 

· Answer patients’ questions to ensure compliance with physician’s orders

· Escalate matters to the clinic manager or attending physician when unsure or beyond scope of authority

· Prepare and maintain the functionality, safety, cleanliness, and aesthetics of the treatment rooms and clinic to ensure that the operation runs efficiently and effectively, and complies with OSHA regulations

· Assist in social media marketing, and educational and promotional content which may require your presence, image, voice and/or likeness in videos, audios, and/or photos
